About the Gallery
Since its establishment in 2021, IOMO Gallery has developed a program built on a dual commitment. The active discovery and championing of emerging talent, and the continued support of mid-career and established artists whose practices define the contemporary moment. The gallery understands these two ambitions as inseparable. New voices gain meaning in dialogue with experience, and established practices are renewed in conversation with what is just beginning to emerge.
Discovering and nurturing the next generation of artists is not a secondary concern but a central act of the gallery's identity. IOMO invests early, follows closely, and commits to the long arc of an artist's development.
Equally central to IOMO's mission is its role as a living conduit between the Romanian art scene, one of the most dynamic and underrepresented in Europe, and the broader international contemporary art world. The gallery actively works to close the distance between local practices and global conversations, bringing international artists and perspectives into dialogue with Romanian voices, and creating pathways for Romanian artists to be seen and contextualized abroad.
This exchange is not incidental but intentional. IOMO conceives of itself as a bridge, and every exhibition, art fair participation, and institutional partnership is an act of connection.
In recent years, IOMO has presented exhibitions featuring artists including Marius Bercea, Rebecca Brodskis, Billy Gibney, Remus Grecu, Adela Janska, Mie Olise Kjærgaard, Genti Korini, Sam Lipp, Tania Marmolejo, Justin Mortimer, Justin Liam O’Brien, Robert Pokorny, Emma Păvăloaia, Mircea Roman, Tang Shuo. A roster that reflects the gallery's international reach and the breadth of its curatorial vision.
With a commitment to rigorous artistic production and genuine discovery, IOMO Gallery aims to articulate a strong, coherent, and internationally resonant voice. One rooted in the evolving landscape of Romanian contemporary art, and oriented, always, toward the world beyond it.
