IOMO Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the fifth edition of CAN Art Fair Ibiza, taking place from 25–28 June 2026 at FECOEV, Ibiza. The presentation marks the gallery's debut at the fair and positions IOMO Gallery as the first Romanian gallery to participate in CAN, one of Europe's leading contemporary art fairs dedicated to current artistic practices and contemporary painting.

Founded in Bucharest in 2021, IOMO Gallery has established itself as a platform for ambitious contemporary artistic practices, bringing together emerging and established artists through exhibitions, publications, and international collaborations. The invitation to participate in CAN Art Fair Ibiza represents an important milestone in the gallery's ongoing efforts to strengthen its international presence and contribute to the visibility of Romanian contemporary art within a broader global context.

Presented at Booth A8 and curated by Thom Oosterhof in collaboration with the gallery, the project entitled Diverted Attention brings together works by Australian artist Billy Gibney, British artist Graham Silveria Martin, American artists Nathan Ritterpusch and Zoe Schweiger, alongside Romanian sculptor Mircea Roman, one of the most important figures of contemporary Romanian art.

“The presentation confronts the viewer with the stark reality that our attention is barely our own. How our exposure to ‘beauty’ and destruction, in such overwhelming quantities, have diverted our attention from both. How looking away has become so natural, almost easy, against the backdrop of over-exposure.

The booth aims to challenge the way in which we operate in contemporary society by exposing us to our own ways of being. Not to instigate change, but to bring instead a valuable awareness,” says curator Thom Oosterhof, whose collaboration with IOMO Gallery extends across the gallery's 2026 exhibition programme.

By bringing together artists from different generations and cultural backgrounds, the project reflects IOMO Gallery's commitment to fostering meaningful international exchange while maintaining a strong connection to the Romanian artistic landscape.

The participation coincides with a significant moment for both institutions, as CAN Art Fair Ibiza and IOMO Gallery each celebrate five years of activity in 2026. Established as one of the most distinctive events of the European art calendar, CAN has become a key meeting point for galleries, collectors, curators, and art professionals interested in the most relevant developments in contemporary art today.

CAN Art Fair Ibiza takes place within Ibiza Art Week and brings together a carefully selected group of international galleries from across Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia.

For IOMO Gallery, the participation represents both a recognition of the gallery's curatorial programme and an opportunity to further develop relationships with collectors, institutions, and contemporary art audiences from around the world.
